Lazarus

In John 11:4, Jesus responds to the news that Lazarus was sick: “… but Jesus, having heard, said, ‘This sickness is not toward negative relationships. Rather, it is for revealing what God can and does do that one else can or would do, in order that the Son of God may be recognized as doing what no one else can or would do, through it.'”

Because the essence of Lazarus was a soul regenerated by the Word, neither the sickness nor death of his human nature could separate him from the love of God in Christ Jesus. To demonstrate this point in a physical world before a multitude of witnesses, Jesus raised Lazarus’ body from the dead.

What is true of Lazarus is true of us in as much as we remain in the Word.
