Jesus says a lot about the relationship between the persons of the Trinity in John’s Gospel. God’s nature is love and love gives itself for the sake of others. Adam, made in the image of God, needs someone for whom he will give his life and that someone will be God’s creative agent to make each successive generation of people for whom the preceding give their lives and so find substantive, comprehensive, and enduring meaning in their experiences. God will make a helper to remain before the man. A “helper” means someone to love and someone integral for being fruitful and multiplying. To “remain before” because it is not good for man to be alone.
