Jesus is working His way through most of the ten commandments. In these verses, He addresses swearing and taking an oath. How is Jesus getting down to the heart of the matter with what God has intended in this area?
Also, we encounter the well-known command to turn the other cheek—to continue to love and care for those, even if they are hard to love. So, are we passivists? How do we reconcile different texts in the Bible, such as this text with Romans 13?
