The Word produces faith (John 8:31, Romans 10:17), makes us ready to give a defense for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15), and creates genuine fellowship (1 John 1:7). The purpose of this website is to advance the Word of God in the lives of people and to avoid those formalities and material preoccupations that undermine such advancement.
This purpose of advancing the Word of God in the lives of people will be served by weekly posts consisting of brief, biblical meditations (WWW), by daily emails (Daily Bread), by providing access to articles and studies (Resources), by suggestions for helpful books (Publications), by links to resources (Resources), by posting information on current and former students and friends who are involved in missionary activity and seek support (Missions), and by keeping you aware of studies and publications that are in the works (Projects).
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God, the only norm and rule for every matter of faith and life. The Word of God is the essential source of our life as the following texts make evident.
Deuteronomy 6:4-12: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD; 6:5 and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. 6:6 And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; 6:7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 6:8 And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 6:9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. 6:10 And when the LORD your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, with great and goodly cities, which you did not build, 6:11 and houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out, which you did not hew, and vineyards and olive trees, which you did not plant, and when you eat and are full, 6:12 then take heed lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
John 8:31: “Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’”
Acts 2:42: “And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles’ doctrine, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers.”
Romans 10:17: “So then, faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God.”
1 Peter 3:15: “Always be ready to give a defense of the hope that is within you.”
1 John 1:7: “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
Deuteronomy 4:5-6: “Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land which you are entering to take possession of it. 4:6 Keep them and do them; for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’”
