Good science and good religion are good for the same reason: they seek the truth, no matter what, by persistent testing and collaboration. Check a concordance for how many times God invites or commands us to keep on testing for truth. In 2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul wrote, “Keep on testing yourselves to see if you are in the faith.” That is, am I actually honest about dependence and relentless in the pursuit of truth no matter what or am I protecting certain “favorites” of mine?
God provides many means of testing: certainly His Word, His creation (nature), reason, history, and always collaboration with others who can keep us from protecting favorites and from making ourselves most favorite. God’s enduring love for us, the incarnation, the redemption of all accomplished by Jesus, and God’s regenerating work in us through the means of grace has endured and thrived in every test of time by every means of opposition. “On Christ, the solid Rock, we stand…”
