The gospel or “good message” of the Bible is NEVER anything that sounds like a condition you have to meet, like “you can be saved if….”
One of the essential elements of the good message—evident all through Jesus’ teaching in the New Testament—is that “YOU CAN’T HAVE TO.”
Consider an example of someone who offers to plant your favorite fruit tree in your yard and it is ever-bearing. The soil, sun, rain, and the tree produce fruit all because God makes it so. In short, the good message of God to us by every means of revelation is that He has already and continues to save us. Please keep in mind this “can’t have to” principle of the good message as we move forward.
